Welcome to Yoga with Charlotte Swann!

About Me:

I am a fully qualified Level 4 British Wheel of Yoga Teacher with 20 years of experience practising yoga and over 500 hours of training. I am also an accredited Menopause Yoga teacher, having qualified with MY, the gold standard of menopause yoga teacher training. I came to yoga in my early twenties through an interest in its physical aspects. However, I quickly discovered that yoga had so much more to offer in terms of mind-body wholeness and health and so I began to explore its many other benefits. This lead to my completing a British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Course in 2012 and then going on to complete the 3 year British Wheel of Yoga teaching diploma. I currently teach classes in the Neath and Port Talbot and Pontardawe area.

About Yoga:

Yoga is a holistic approach to health that works on uniting mind, body and spirit to create a feeling of overall balance and contentment within our bodies and minds. Hatha yoga combines physical movements, meditative practices and conscious breathing to increase flexibility, stamina and strength within the body, and focus within the mind. Yoga can help to regulate our metabolisms, balance our hormonal systems and raise our energy levels and can be enormously  beneficial in creating a calm, healthy mental attitude to life in an increasingly fast-paced and stressful world.

About My Classes:

My classes are Hatha yoga based and incorporate flowing movements and longer-held postures taught in an inclusive and light-hearted manner. They are intelligently sequenced and focus on helping students to develop strength, stamina and an ability to challenge themselves, whilst also remaining compassionate towards themselves and finding a level to work to that’s right for them.

All of my current classes are mixed ability and incorporate posture modifications to cater to beginners and those nursing injuries, as well as more challenging variations for more experienced yoga practitioners.

Classes begin with centering, to settle into the body and connect with the breath, before moving on to the yoga postures, which are taught with close attention to alignment and the breath. Posture work is often followed by a short guided meditation, and classes finish with five or ten minutes of relaxation to give the body and mind a chance to enjoy the benefits of the practice and to enable this feeling of enjoyment to be taken off the mat and into daily life.

My Workshops:

I run regular sunday workshops at Briton Ferry Community Centre. These morning workshops offer the opportunity to explore elements of weekly class practice in more depth, with attention to alignment, flowing sequences and held postures, breathing and meditation practices and a longer relaxation/yoga nidra at the end of the session.

I also run Yoga for Menopause workshops at the same venue. Please go to my Workshops page to see what workshops are currently running.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or queries and I hope to see you on the mat very soon!
